Own a Piece of Magic History

Betty and I are going down to a big event this weekend, the Mark Wilson Auction & Sale that they’re calling the Wilson Warehouse Alley Sale.

The sale will feature international collectibles from Mark & Nani’s lifetime in magic. This is the first time ever that Mark & Nani are opening up their personal collection to the public. Come ready to buy. It takes place at their secret warehouse located somewhere in Valencia. I suspect lots of L.A. people will be there.

The Wilson Warehouse Alley Sale occurs on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at their Southern California warehouse.

Can You Guess Who They Are?

Last week we shared an old photograph we’d found amongst the ephemera in one of the consignments.

Pictured is a group of magicians, VERY famous magicians, from a former era. We asked if someone could name them, and someone did.

Rick Belford named them all correctly and won the $25 gift certificate. Congratulations Rick, the gift certificate is on its way.

Can you guess who these very famous magicians are?

Can you guess who these very famous magicians are?

Answer: In order from left to right, that’s magic dealer Frank Ducrot, magician Frederick Eugene Powell, Harry Houdini  and the great coin magician, T. Nelson Downs on the right.

THIS IS HEAVY by Jay Mattioli

We are thrilled to have the exclusive on Jay Mattioli’s newest offering, THIS IS HEAVY, and we’re glad to report that we have already sold a DOZEN of them. You’ve got to watch the video to appreciate what he’s done.

Jay’s made the classic “Light Heavy Chest” portable enough to be performed in anyone’s living room, giving magicians a phenomenal and entertaining routine that’s a winner. Workers immediately recognize its versatility, commercial appeal and potential impact on audiences. It has Anti-Bully program written all over it.

This classic illusion allows you to ROB someone of their energy.

A Contemporary Version of The Trick Robert Houdin Successfully Employed To Quell An Insurrection!

Not since the arrival of the Chair Suspension has there been a more PORTABLE, more IMPACTFUL illusionette made available!

THIS IS HEAVY is Jay Mattioli’s solution to many of the drawbacks that ALL the other versions of the classic “Light Heavy Chest” have in some way or another.

In this version…

THE MAGICIAN NEVER TOUCHES THE BOX DURING THE ROUTINE! The contents of the box can become heavy while the magician is no where even near the box or spectators, and always under his complete control.

NO SUCTION DEVICES! Most other light heavy chests required you to find a super smooth, glass-like surface to perform on, which made it very impractical. With the supplied props you can do this anywhere, in any environment.

THE PROPS ARE INNOCENT LOOKING! No giant, suspicious disc to lay on the floor and place the box on. Use a cardboard box which can be viewed inside and out on all angles! There is nothing to see.

THIS IS HEAVY is very easy and stress free to operate, letting you focus on the important part of this classic illusion, the presentation.

I’ll let you know in next week’s blog how the Wilson Sale & Auction went as well as a report on any acquisitions or treasures obtained.

As always, have a great weekend my friends,

Paul
